Helmut Walcha


Nacido en Leipzig, Walcha era ciego a los 19 años después de la vacunación contra la viruela. A pesar de su discapacidad, entró en el Conservatorio de Leipzig y se convirtió en un asistente en la Thomaskirche a Günther Ramin , que era profesor de órgano en el Conservatorio y cantor en Santo Tomás. En 1929, Walcha aceptó una posición en Frankfurt am Main en el Friedenskirche y permaneció en Frankfurt para el resto de su vida. De 1933 a 1938 enseñó en el Conservatorio Hoch . En 1938 fue nombrado profesor de órgano en la Escuela Superior de Música de Frankfurt y organista de la Dreikönigskirche en 1946. Se retiró de la actuación pública en 1981.
Walcha ha grabado obras completas de Bach, dos veces, una en blanco y negro (1947-52), y de nuevo en estéreo de 1.956 a 71. Este ciclo de música (publicada 09.10.2001), ha sido remasterizado y reenvasado en la edición  de 12 - CD caja. Este versión contiene el registro de sus propias conclusiones de los últimos fugue de El Arte de la fuga - inédito.
Walcha también compuso para órgano. Ha publicado cuatro volúmenes de originales preludios corales (publicado por CF Peters y grabado en parte, por ejemplo, Renate Meierjürgen ), así como los arreglos para órgano de obras orquestales escritas por otros.
Ha dado conferencias sobre la música de órgano y composición (ilustrado por su propia interpretación) en el Conservatorio Hoch y la Escuela Superior de Música de Frankfurt.
Walcha enseñó a muchos organistas americanos importantes del siglo XX, que viajaron a Alemania como becarios Fulbright: cuenta con Robert Anderson, David Boe, Margaret Leupold Dickinson, Dickinson Melvin, Disselhorst Delbert, Jordania Pablo, Mulbury David Douglass Fenner, Douglass Jane, y Grigg Helen Fuente, Carlos Krigbaum, George Ritchie - todos los cuales se convirtieron en maestros y grandes artistas después de sus estudios en el extranjero.

¿Por qué «luz de las tinieblas? Walcha era ciego, y su conocimiento de la polifonía interior de las obras de Bach aparece casi en blanco y negro ». De hecho, a menudo encuentro que escuchar a Walcha me recuerda a un cristal de agua: perfecto, pero casi no existente... la polifonía es perfecta (toucher Walcha era único, y sus registros a menudo implican un sonido agudo - y por lo tanto se puede escuchar todo). Y se las arregla para que parezca no estar presente: la música es, no el intérprete. Por supuesto que no es cierto. Su forma de tocar es tan personal que usted encontrará todos los organistas  diferentes.

Fue sin duda el más importante - en términos de impacto - de todos los organistas bachianos... Como cuestión de hecho, su equipo de música grabaciones de Bach se presentan a menudo como el estándar. Por lo tanto, es inevitable comparar este mono conjunto con el más conocido.

Ahora no creo que Bach Walcha es muy Bachiáno - No creo que Bach tenga ese estilo en sus  composiciones. Sin embargo, la mayor parte de su forma de tocar es muy impresionante (Ha tocado todos los órganos más importantes y las obras clave de Bach) y  se ve en una de las mentes musicales más potente de la historia (Bach) a través de una de las mentes más inteligentes de interpretación (Walcha). Algunos de los interpretattions Walcha ... son, creo, casi imposibles de mejorar.
